When it rains in Pensacola, it's smart to wear a raincoat or use an umbrella to prevent you from getting wet. In much the same way, car wax acts as a barrier to help prevent damage to your vehicles exterior that can be caused by a variety of environmental contaminants. At Volvo Cars Pensacola, we firmly believe in the importance of regularly waxing your car to help protect the beauty of your cars paint for years to come.

As the name suggests, car wax is a waxy substance, usually carnauba or a synthetic polymer, that adheres to the surface of your vehicle. You can apply it using a powered buffer or manually using a soft, clean cloth. Once the wax has been properly applied and has a chance to dry, it is completely clear, meaning you won't notice it's there except for its protective properties.

The main way to tell if a vehicle has had wax applied is to spray the vehicle with a hose. If the water forms into beads, the wax on the vehicle is fresh and is doing its job. However, if the water sits on the surface of the vehicle as a thin film, the vehicle needs to have a fresh layer of wax applied.
