Belts & Hoses Warning Signs

Belt and hose inspections should be performed regularly once your car gets to a certain age. Extreme heat, cold, and other problems can cause cracks, splits, and worn down components, which lead to bigger damage if they are left to fester. For example, a timing belt with worn teeth can make it difficult for your camshaft and crankshaft to sync up, which will eventually cause your engine to fail.

Serpentine belts are also an issue, as any damage to these could lead to the loss of power steering. With coolant and heater hoses, a leak may lead to chemical exposure under the hood and cause significant damage to your engine. The good news is that all of these can be prevented just by taking a look under the hood and watching for warning signs, such as screeching noises, vibrations, overheating, and leaks.
